Go/No-Go¶
Purpose¶
The Go/No-Go screen in Clarity Transform records whether each migration event goes ahead. The on-screen subtitle reads: "Record whether each migration event goes ahead. Go emails the Event Update group. No-Go emails the group and unlocks the event so it can be replanned. Deferred records the decision only. Every decision is kept in the event's history and in the Activity Log."
There are three decisions:
- Go: the event goes ahead. Clarity emails the Event Update group.
- No-Go: the event does not go ahead as planned. Clarity emails the Event Update group and, if the event is locked, unlocks it so its scope can be replanned.
- Deferred: the decision is put off. Clarity records it and sends no email.
The Event Update group is every contact in the Project Directory with Include In Event Update ticked.

What you see¶
Migration events¶
The Migration events card lists every migration event, one row per event, with its latest decision. If there are no events, the table reads "No migration events."
The columns are:
- Event: the event name.
- Dates: the event's start and end dates, as dd/mm/yyyy.
- Status: the event's status, such as In Planning or In Progress.
- Locked: a lock icon when the event is locked. See Events for locking.
- Decision: the latest decision, shown as a badge: Go in green, No-Go in red, Deferred in amber, or No decision if none has been recorded.
- Decided by: the user who recorded the latest decision.
- When (UTC): when the latest decision was recorded, as dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm in UTC.
- Notes: the notes recorded with the latest decision.
- Actions: the History and Decide buttons.
The table has no toolbar, search box or paging.
Decision history¶
History opens the Decision history:
Record decision form¶
Decide opens the Record decision form for the event. It shows the event name and has these fields:
- Decision: a list with Go, No-Go and Deferred. Nothing is selected when the form opens, so every decision is a deliberate choice.
- Notes: help "Required for No-Go and Deferred. For Go and No-Go these notes are emailed to the Event Update group."
When you choose No-Go for a locked event, the form also shows "No-Go unlocks this event so its scope can be replanned."
The form footer has Cancel and Record decision.
If you select Record decision without choosing a decision, Clarity shows "Choose Go, No-Go or Deferred." and records nothing.
If you record Go or No-Go for an event that already has that decision, Clarity asks you to confirm first: "This event is already Go. Record it again and resend the Go email?" (or No-Go). This is because recording it again sends the email again. Deferred does not ask.
After you record a decision¶
The form closes, the table refreshes, and a message sums up what happened, for example "Recorded No-Go. The event was unlocked. Email sending to N recipients.", where N is the number of recipients. The message can include:
- "The event was unlocked." when a No-Go unlocked a locked event.
- "Email sending to N recipients." when the Go or No-Go email was queued.
- "Email not sent:" followed by the reason, when the email could not be sent. The decision is still recorded.
If the decision could not be recorded, the message starts "Decision not recorded:" followed by the reason.
The decision is added to the event's history and recorded in the Activity Log.
Emails¶
The emails use two templates on Settings → Communications → Email Templates:
| Decision | Template | Subject |
|---|---|---|
| Go | Go Decision | {EventName}: Go |
| No-Go | No-Go Decision | {EventName}: No-Go |
Both are sent to the Event Update group. The recipients come from the group, not from the template. The decision notes fill the {Notes} placeholder. Deferred sends no email.
