CSV Import

Purpose

The CSV Import page in Clarity Transform lists saved CSV import jobs. Each job opens a five-step wizard that takes a CSV file through upload, reconciliation rules, column mapping, verification and import.

For the end-to-end flow, see the CSV import workflow.

Where to find it

Go to Discover → Integrations, then select the CSV Import card. The card opens its own page of import jobs, not the endpoint page that most integrations use. The card's history icon opens the standard integration page instead, so open the card itself to reach the jobs.

What you see

Columns

The grid lists saved import jobs:

  • Name: select a job's name to open its import wizard.
  • Ci Class: values seen in this build are Relationship, Application, Device and Database.
  • Source
  • Last Run
  • Last Result: values seen in this build are Success and Failed. It is empty for a job that has never been run.
  • Last Run By: the user who last ran the import.

Actions

The grid has the standard toolbar: the add icon (tooltip Create New Integrations Csv), the edit icon, Remove selected, Clear selection, Reload table data, Enable spreadsheet editing, Export CSV and Import CSV. Each row has a View Details row action (the eye icon).

Import CSV on the toolbar is not a CSV import job

The toolbar's Import CSV loads rows into this list of import jobs. Its dialog reads "Upload a CSV file exported from this table. Rows with an existing ID will be updated; rows without an ID will be inserted as new records." To load CMDB records from a file, open a job's wizard instead.

Filters

Each column has a filter row, and the grid has a Search: box and an entries per page selector.

The grid remembers its Search: text, column filters, sort order and page size between visits. If the grid shows fewer rows than you expect, clear the Search: box and the filter row.

Fields

The create form (Create new entry) has three fields. The edit form has the same fields, filled in.

  • Name: text.
  • Ci Class: Application, Cluster, Database, Device or Relationship. It starts as Application.
  • Source: text.

The form has no required markers. It has no schedule field, although wizard step 5 refers to a daily schedule "if selected during job creation". The form footer has Cancel and Save. After Save, a toast reads "Changes saved successfully!", or "Error saving changes:" followed by the reason.

The job's own history (Last Run, Last Result, Last Run By) and its uploaded file are hidden in the form and set by the wizard.

Import wizard steps

Selecting a job's name opens a page with five steps, in this order. The step descriptions are quoted as the product shows them.

  1. Step 1 - Upload CSV: "Upload a CSV file to start the ERTL process." Button: Upload CSV.
  2. Step 2 - Reconciliation Rules: "Define reconciliation rules to specify which fields are managed by each import job." Button: Reconciliation Rules.
  3. Step 3 - Column Mapping: "Map source data fields with their corresponding elements in the target data structure." Button: Column Mapping.
  4. Step 4 - Verify Data: "Import a sample of the source data and verify the mappings that you have created are satisfactory." Button: Verify Data.
  5. Step 5 - Import Data: "Run the full data import on demand. If selected during job creation, the import will run on a daily schedule." Button: Import Data.

The wizard's pages:

  • Upload CSV: the page "Import data from CSV", with a file input and an Upload CSV button that stays disabled until a file is chosen.
  • Reconciliation Rules: the page "Data Reconciliation Rules". It shows "CI Class: ", a search box ("Search for a column...") and one tile per column, with Back and Save.
  • Column Mapping: the page "Map CSV Columns", with a search box ("Search for a column...") and one row per column: Database Column, CSV Column (a list) and If Empty (Preserve or Overwrite). The legend explains the two: Preserve "Keep existing DB value when CSV is empty" and Overwrite "CSV always wins, even if empty". The page has Back and Save.

CSV Import has no endpoint form, so it has no End Point, Credential or Job Schedule field.

How to

Create an import job

  1. Go to Discover → Integrations, then select the CSV Import card. The grid of saved import jobs opens.
  2. Select the add icon in the grid toolbar. The Create new entry form opens.
  3. Enter a Name, choose the Ci Class of the records the file holds, and enter a Source.
  4. Select Save.

Open an import job's wizard

  1. Go to Discover → Integrations.
  2. Select the CSV Import card. The grid of saved import jobs opens.
  3. Select the job's Name. The page shows Step 1 - Upload CSV to Step 5 - Import Data.

If a wizard step returns you to the job list, read the error message shown on the job list: it appears as a red toast when the list opens and gives the reason the step could not continue. The message is shown once, so note it before you leave the page.
