Release notes¶
5.2 releases
[5.2.0] - 2026-07-23¶
Changed¶
- Move group guard rails are now stored per move group as a fully self-contained rule set instead of relying on hard-coded defaults being merged in at evaluation time. When a new move group is created it is seeded with the current system default guard rails, which can then be edited or deleted individually. Deleting a default guard rail now sticks - application updates no longer silently re-add previously removed defaults.
- System default guard rails ship as configurable database seed data (
move_group_guard_rail_defaults) rather than code. Defaults are applied to newly created move groups only (both the Move Groups editor and the migration event automation path); existing move groups are left untouched and are not altered by application updates. - Move group guard rails are now enforced consistently across every surface that assigns a move group - the CMDB Device and Database grids, the Move Groups devices/databases/container-workloads inline editors, Populate Move Group, and CSV import. A blocked assignment reports the specific rule and entities that violated it. Any user can override a guard-rail block (event locks remain a hard stop and are not overridable); every override is recorded in the change log (
Action = "GuardRailOverride") with the entities and move group involved. - Removed the standalone "Migration Readiness" issue badge (and its underlying
devices_failed_readiness/failed_readiness_device_namesstat columns) from the Move Groups Summary table. Migration readiness is now surfaced solely through the guard-rail badge/violations, so the Issues column no longer flags readiness as an always-on hardcoded concern that could contradict a move group whose readiness guard rail has been removed. - The Move Groups Summary Migration Date is now a date-only value (previously date + time). The column type changed from
datetime2todate, the editor now shows a date-only picker, and the grid and migration comms display just the date. Existing values are truncated to their date component.
Fixed¶
- Marking a move group Ready to Migrate no longer applies a separate, non-removable migration-readiness check on top of guard rails. Migration readiness is now governed solely by the centralised guard rails (the shipped
migration_readiness / not_equal / Readydefault), so removing or overriding that guard rail for a move group correctly allows it to be marked ready even when some assets are not yet "Ready" - keeping the readiness gate in line with the unified guard-rail flow across every surface. - The smoke-test sign-off dashboard (and the confirmation links that open it) is now scoped to the current event/runbook, so recipients only see - and complete - sign-off items for the event they were emailed about, instead of every runbook they are a contact for. Completed items therefore stay separated by event.
- Sequence smoke-test sign-off now enforces per-device coverage: when different VMs in a sequence have different owners/testers, each owner must sign off for their own VMs before the sequence gate completes. When the same contact owns every VM, a single sign-off still completes the whole sequence.
- Device and Sequence smoke-test comms no longer fail with a "an error occurred while saving the entity changes" error when the same email address is entered multiple times as the tester/sign-off contact. Contact lists are now de-duplicated and length-capped before being stored.
- The Populate Move Group device-selection pop-up is now larger and vertically resizable, with a taller device list and full-width wrapping of long device names.
5.1 releases
[5.1.1] - 2026-07-22¶
Fixed¶
- Shared sign-off / App Services Shutdown gates now complete on a per-device basis: joint contacts of the same device(s) only need one of them to confirm, while distinct owners of different devices at the same step must each confirm their own device(s). Previously every recipient had to respond even when they were joint contacts of the same devices.
- Once a colleague has confirmed (or failed) a shared sign-off, the other recipients' confirmation links and dashboard now show an "already actioned by a colleague" state instead of prompting them to sign off again.
- The smoke-test sign-off dashboard now lists the device names for every summary item, not just the step/scope name.
[5.1.0] - 2026-07-21¶
Added¶
- Self-service smoke-test sign-off dashboard for owners and testers, with clear per-stage labelling (device smoke test, device sequence, application smoke test sign-off) so recipients can see a summary of the whole comms process.
application_serviceis now a first-class CMDB entity, including interview-engine and custom-field support.- Event and move-group automation wizard (Phase 1) with ramp-up/taper capacity distribution.
- SolarWinds NetFlow discovery integration.
Fixed¶
- DataTables Editor save failures are now surfaced to the user (error toast and the modal stays open) instead of failing silently, and are covered by the dynamic CRUD tests.
- Smoke-test shared sign-off gate now completes only when all active recipients confirm, and fails immediately if any single recipient fails.
- Application Smoke Test recipient now resolves from the device's testing owner.
- Expected email-send failures are logged without the full stack trace.

- Health check endpoint - a
/healthendpoint for monitoring the application's availability, database connectivity, and service health from external monitoring tools.
Fixed¶
- Scope filter dropdown now correctly retains the selected value when navigating between pages. Previously, the filter could reset to the default value on certain navigation paths.
- Environment configuration file (
.env) is no longer overwritten during MSI update installations, preserving existing database connection strings and settings. - Third-party library vulnerabilities addressed by updating dependencies to their latest secure versions.
4.7 releases
[4.7.2] - 2026-02-16¶
Changed¶
- Database schema management migrated from Entity Framework to DACPAC. All EF migration files removed and replaced with a SQL Server Database project containing explicit table definitions, triggers, and stored procedures. This provides better control over schema changes and supports offline schema comparison.
- DACPAC integrated into the database MSI installer for streamlined database deployments.
[4.7.1.19] - 2026-02-13¶
Added¶
- Databases added to Application Mapping force-directed graphs. Database nodes now appear alongside application, device, and host nodes in the graph visualisation, revealing database-to-application dependencies that were previously only visible in CMDB tables.
