Event Log¶
Purpose¶
The Event Log is the Clarity Transform system and diagnostic log. Its on-screen subtitle is "System events, errors, and diagnostic information". Each row is one log entry with a time stamp, a level and the component that wrote it. Background-job runs are logged here under the Source Context BackgroundJobService.
The Event Log is one of four screens under Logging. It does not hold field-level data changes (those are in the Change Log) or business workflow events, approvals and sign-ins (those are in the Activity Log). The results of automation scripts are in the Automation Script Log.
Where to find it¶
Logging → Event Log
What you see¶
At the top of the screen are an Auto-refresh toggle and a "Last updated: <time>" indicator. With Auto-refresh on, the grid and the KPI cards reload every 30 seconds while the browser tab is in view. The indicator shows when they last reloaded.
KPI cards¶
- TOTAL TODAY
- ERRORS
- WARNINGS
- INFO/DEBUG: Information and Debug entries added together.
The cards do not follow the filters: changing Date, Level, Source Context or Quick Time Range reloads them, but they are fetched without the filter values.
Filters¶
- Date: one day at a time. The dropdown lists recent dates. There is no date-range filter.
- Level: All Levels, Verbose, Debug, Information, Warning, Error, Fatal.
- Source Context: All Sources, plus the names of internal components, for example
BackgroundJobService,Clarity Runbooks - <runbook>andClarity.Controllers.*. - Quick Time Range: defaults to Full Day.
Level is the severity filter. There is no event-type filter on this screen.
The grid remembers its Search: text, column filters, sort order and page size between visits. If the grid shows fewer rows than you expect, clear the Search: box and the filter row.
Each filter reloads the grid as soon as you change it.
Columns¶
The grid opens sorted newest first, 50 entries per page.
- Actions
- Time Stamp
- Source Context
- Message: messages longer than 100 characters are shortened with "..."; hover over one to read it in full, or open View Details.
- Level: a coloured label (red for Error and Fatal, amber for Warning).
- Username
- Exception: Yes when the entry has exception details, otherwise a dash. Open View Details to read them.
Actions¶
The grid toolbar has a back arrow, Export CSV and a refresh icon. Export is CSV only.
Each row has one row action, View Details (the eye icon), which opens the Log Entry Details dialog for that entry, with times shown in your browser's local time. The dialog has a Close button. If the entry cannot be loaded, it shows "Failed to load log details".
The refresh icon reloads the grid and the KPI cards and shows the toast "Table data refreshed successfully!".

- Select View Details on an entry to read its full message and any exception.
Show only errors¶
- Go to Logging → Event Log.
- In Level, select Error (or Fatal).
- To narrow the list to one component, also select a value in Source Context.
- Select View Details on a row to open that entry.
Export the log¶
