Event Command Center

Purpose

The Event Command Center in Clarity Transform shows progress for one migration event at a time. The screen header is Command Center, and the subtitle reads: "The Command Center is your central hub for monitoring migration events. Select an event to view real-time progress, key metrics, and detailed status for applications, devices, move groups, and runbooks involved in your migration project."

Where to find it

Execute → Monitoring & Reporting → Event Command Center

What you see

The header has two links: Lessons Learnt and RAID Log. Below it, an event select chooses the event that the cards and tabs show.

Cards

  • APPLICATIONS: migrated / rolled back
  • DEVICES: migrated / rolled back / failed
  • DATABASES
  • MOVE GROUPS
  • RUNBOOKS
  • RUNBOOK TASKS: completed / failed
  • SMOKE TESTS: completed / failed

Tabs

  • Applications: Application Name · Move Group · Event Name · Device Count · Devices Preseeding · Devices Cutover · Devices Cutover Tests · Devices Complete · Percentage Complete
  • Devices: Device Name · Application · Move Group · Event Name · Migration Status
  • Move Groups: Move Group · Event Name · Status · Device Count · Database Count · Devices Preseeding · Devices Cutover · Devices Cutover Tests · Devices Complete · Percentage Complete

The Devices grid also has the hidden columns Approval Status, Migration Readiness, Target Cluster, Target Storage and Target Migration Appliance.

Actions

The grid toolbar has Export CSV. The rows have no row actions, and the screen has no create or edit forms for event data.

The screen also has Send Update, which emails a progress update for the selected event. See Send an event update.

Send update dialog

Send Update opens the Send update dialog for the event chosen in the event select. The dialog shows:

  • the event name and a preview of the event's key figures.
  • Note: required, up to 500 characters. It is included in the email as written.

The dialog's buttons are Cancel and Send. The update is emailed to the Project Directory Event Update group with the Command Centre Update email template. The figures are taken again when you select Send.

Filters

The grid remembers its Search: text, column filters, sort order and page size between visits. If the grid shows fewer rows than you expect, clear the Search: box and the filter row.

How to

Monitor an event

  1. Go to Execute → Monitoring & Reporting → Event Command Center.
  2. Choose the event in the event select.
  3. Read the cards for the event's totals.
  4. Select the Applications, Devices or Move Groups tab to see progress per record.

Send an event update

Before you start, make sure the people who should get the update have Include In Event Update ticked in Governance → Project Directory. The update goes to that Event Update group.

  1. Go to Execute → Monitoring & Reporting → Event Command Center.
  2. Choose the event in the event select. If no event is chosen, Send Update shows "Select an event first."
  3. Select Send Update. The Send update dialog opens with a preview of the event's figures.
  4. Check the figures, then enter a Note. The note is required: without it, Send shows "Enter a note for the update."
  5. Select Send. The figures are taken again at this point, so the email has the latest numbers.

A confirmation message shows when the update is queued. If no email could be queued, a warning shows instead and the dialog stays open.
