Migration Tracking¶
Purpose¶
Migration Tracking in Clarity Transform is a menu group with two dashboards: Application Migrations and Device Migrations. Each dashboard shows migration status and progress for its CI class, with filter chips, summary cards, charts and a details grid. Their subtitles are "Real-time application migration status and progress tracking" and "Real-time migration status and progress tracking".
Where to find it¶
- Execute → Monitoring & Reporting → Migration Tracking → Application Migrations
- Execute → Monitoring & Reporting → Migration Tracking → Device Migrations
What you see¶
Application Migrations¶
The screen header is Application Migration Tracking Dashboard.
Filters¶
- Filter chips: Business unit, Criticality, Environment, Cluster.
- Clear all
Cards¶
- ORIGINAL SCOPE
- MIGRATED
- DECOMM
- DESCOPED
- REMAINING
The cards and the headline figures have the same help tooltips as on Device Migrations (below), worded for applications.
The Programme headlines section shows COMPLETE, SCOPE AT START, AGAINST OPENING SCOPE, THIS WEEK, LAST 30 DAYS, SUCCESS RATE, RUN RATE, FORECAST FINISH and DECOMMISSIONED. It has the buttons Copy for report, Refresh and Export.
Charts¶
- Migration Burndown: its Group by control offers Environment, Cluster, Business unit or Criticality, or None - actual vs forecast.
- Migration Progress
- Status Breakdown
Columns¶
The Application Migration Details grid has these columns. Its toolbar has Export CSV.
- Name
- Description
- App Owner
- Technical Contact 1
- Technical Contact 2
- Vendor
- Business Unit
- Environment
- Criticality
- Testing By
- Validated On
- Validated By
- Migration Plan
- Migration Status
- Migration Contact
- Migration Date
Values¶
Allowed values, as shown on Settings → Field Management → Dropdown Lists for the application table:
- Migration Status: Not Started, In Progress, Migrated, Decommissioned, Dropped, Failed, On Hold, Blocked, Cancelled, Rolled Back
Device Migrations¶
The screen header is Device Migration Tracking Dashboard.
Filters¶
- Filter chips: Cluster, Datacenter, Move group, Environment, Region.
Cards¶
The cards are the same as on Application Migrations. Each has a subtext:
- ORIGINAL SCOPE: "Filtered device total"
- MIGRATED: "Completed migrations"
- DECOMM: "Marked decommissioned"
- DESCOPED: "No longer in scope"
- REMAINING: "In scope and not done"
Programme headlines¶
The Programme headlines are the same as on Application Migrations, and also include PLAN MOVEMENT and AGAINST PLAN. The section's help tooltip reads: "Progress, pace and forecast for the current filter selection. Counts are against the migration workload - in-scope devices excluding decommissioned ones."
The help tooltips explain how each figure is worked out:
- COMPLETE: "Migrated divided by the migration workload - in-scope devices excluding decommissioned ones. That denominator is deliberately narrower than the Original Scope tile, which counts the whole population."
- SCOPE AT START: "In-scope devices when scope tracking began, against the count now. This counts everything in scope including decommissioned, so it is wider than the Complete denominator. Scope is not frozen - records are added as well as descoped - so percent complete moves for reasons that are not progress. Both denominators are shown so a rebase is visible rather than silent."
- AGAINST OPENING SCOPE: "Migrated measured against the scope as it was when tracking began, rather than against today's. This denominator counts everything that was in scope, including records since decommissioned, so it reads lower than Complete when scope has grown OR when records have been decommissioned - the two are not distinguishable from this figure alone."
- THIS WEEK: "Migrations in the last 7 days, against the 7 days before that."
- LAST 30 DAYS: "Migrations in the last 30 days, against the 30 days before that."
- SUCCESS RATE: "Migrated as a percentage of migrated plus those sitting in a failed status now (Failed or Rolled Back, on devices and applications alike). This is CURRENT status, not a history of attempts - a record that failed once and later succeeded counts as a success, because no attempt history is held."
- RUN RATE: "Migrations per week averaged over a trailing 28-day window. Four whole weeks, so a single maintenance weekend does not swing it, but a real slowdown still shows within a month."
- FORECAST FINISH: "Today plus remaining divided by the current daily rate. Reads "No current rate" when nothing has migrated in the trailing 28 days, rather than guessing."
- AGAINST PLAN: "Forecast finish compared with the latest planned migration date in this selection. Reads "No plan set" when no planned dates are held."
Charts¶
- Migration Burndown: its Group by control offers Environment, Region, Cluster or Move group, or None - plan vs actual. Help tooltip: "Remaining migration workload - in-scope devices excluding decommissioned ones - on a continuous calendar, so a stall shows as a flat line. Planned Remaining comes from the planned migration date; devices with no planned date are held at the start of that line. Forecast is projected from the trailing 28-day rate."
- Migration Progress: "Cumulative migration progress showing total devices and monthly migration completion"
- Status Breakdown: "Count of in-scope devices by migration status for the current filter selection"
Columns¶
The Device Migration Details grid has these columns. Its toolbar has Export CSV, and each row has a View Details row action (the eye icon).
- Name
- Power State
- Operating System
- Datacentre
- Cluster
- Region
- Application
- Environment
- Move Group
- Migration Status
- Migrated Date
- Execution Notes
The filter chip is spelt Datacenter and the grid column Datacentre, as on screen.
Values¶
Settings → Field Management → Dropdown Lists has two rows for the device table's migration status, with different value lists:
- Migration Status (first row): Not Started, Pre Seeding, Cutover, Testing, Migrated, Decommissioned, Dropped, Failed, On Hold, Blocked, Cancelled, Rolled Back
- Migration Status (second row): Not Started, Pre Seeding, Cutover, Testing, Migrated, On Hold, Blocked, Cancelled, Rolled Back
Filters¶
The grid remembers its Search: text, column filters, sort order and page size between visits. If the grid shows fewer rows than you expect, clear the Search: box and the filter row.
