Migration Jobs¶
Purpose¶
Migration Jobs is the Clarity Transform screen for Nutanix Move migration plans and the workloads in them. The page header is Nutanix Move Management, and its subtitle reads: "Comprehensive management interface for Nutanix Move migration plans and workloads, providing centralized control over migration operations and monitoring."
A migration plan is created for a move group. This screen is separate from the Nutanix Move integration card, where the Nutanix Move endpoints are configured: see Nutanix Move.
Where to find it¶
Execute → Migration Operations → Migration Jobs
What you see¶
Tabs¶
- Migration Plans
- Workloads
Neither tab has the standard Clarity grid toolbar, so there is no create or edit form for a plan or a workload. Plans are created with Create Migration Plan.
Migration Plans tab¶
Toolbar:
- Create Migration Plan: opens the Create Migration Plan dialog.
- Move Management: a drop-down menu with Refresh All Plans, Refresh Selected, Start Selected, Suspend Selected, Resume Selected, Cancel Selected and Delete Selected. See Move Management menu.
- Show All Jobs: plans deleted from Nutanix Move are hidden by default. Show All Jobs shows them, and the button changes to Hide Deleted Jobs. See Deleted plans.
Columns:
- Name: opens the Workloads tab filtered to that plan.
- Managed By
- Source Name
- Target Name
- Target Cluster Name
- Status
- Vm State Counts
- Validation Warnings
- Errors
- Num Vms
- Elapsed Time
- Data Gb
- Migrated Data Gb
- Created On
- Last Updated
Each plan row has these row actions (icon tooltips):
- View Details
- Check Status
- Start: opens Confirm Start Replication. See Start replication for a plan.
- Cancel: opens Confirm Cancel Migration Plan.
- Delete: opens Confirm Migration Plan Deletion. See Deleted plans.
A plan with the status DeletedOnMove has only View Details and the note "Audit only".
Move Management menu¶
The items that act on selected plans need at least one plan selected; otherwise a message asks you to select one. Each opens a confirmation dialog first:
- Refresh Selected: Confirm Scoped Refresh. Use Refresh All Plans to refresh every plan.
- Start Selected: Confirm Bulk Replication Start, with the button Start Selected. Starts data replication for the selected plans.
- Suspend Selected: Confirm Bulk Migration Plan Suspension, with the buttons Keep Running and Suspend Selected. Pauses replication in Nutanix Move.
- Resume Selected: Confirm Bulk Migration Plan Resume, with the buttons Keep Suspended and Resume Selected. Resumes suspended replication.
- Cancel Selected: Confirm Bulk Migration Plan Cancellation, with the buttons Keep Running and Cancel Selected. Stops the running migration process in Nutanix Move.
- Delete Selected: Confirm Bulk Migration Plan Deletion, with the buttons Cancel and Delete Selected.
If a refresh runs into problems with a Move appliance, the Move Management button shows an issue count. Select it to open the Migration Plan Refresh Issues panel.
Deleted plans¶
Delete and Delete Selected delete the plan from Nutanix Move but keep the plan and its workloads in Clarity for audit, with the status DeletedOnMove. These rows are hidden on both tabs until you select Show All Jobs.
Workloads tab¶
Toolbar:
- Refresh Workloads
- Show All Jobs: shows workloads of plans deleted from Nutanix Move, which are hidden by default. The button changes to Hide Deleted Jobs.
The Workloads tab has no row actions. When you open it from a plan's Name, it shows only that plan's workloads and the tab shows the plan name. Clear the plan filter to see all workloads again.
Columns:
- Vm Name
- Managed By
- Plan Name
- State
- State String
- Status
- Status String
- Progress
- Progress Percentage
- Total Data Size Gb
- Copied Data Size Gb
- Migrated Data Size Gb
- Power State
- Eta In Seconds
- Error Message
- Warning Message
- Last Cutover Error
- Last Test Error
- Available Actions: information reported by Nutanix Move. It is not a control; there is no cut-over action on this screen.
Create Migration Plan dialog¶
Fields:
- Move Group: a select list.
- Allow VM Operations: a checkbox, unticked to start with.
- Windows Credentials: a list of the stored credentials.
- Linux Credentials: a list of the stored credentials.
The dialog has no field for adding individual VMs to a plan. Its buttons are Cancel and Apply.
Values¶
- Status (Migration Plans): values seen include StatusInProgress, StatusCompleted and StatusUnknown. These are raw Nutanix Move API values. DeletedOnMove marks a plan that was deleted from Nutanix Move and kept in Clarity for audit.
- Vm State Counts: counts per VM state, for example Completed, Failed and ReadyToCutover.
Filters¶
The grid remembers its Search: text, column filters, sort order and page size between visits. If the grid shows fewer rows than you expect, clear the Search: box and the filter row.
How to¶
Create a migration plan for a move group¶
- Go to Execute → Migration Operations → Migration Jobs.
- On the Migration Plans tab, select Create Migration Plan.
- The Create Migration Plan dialog opens. Choose the Move Group.
- Tick Allow VM Operations if you need it, and choose the Windows Credentials and Linux Credentials.
- Select Apply.
Start replication for a plan¶
Starting a plan starts data replication in Nutanix Move. It does not cut the workloads over: Migration Jobs has no cut-over control for a plan or a workload. The cut-over is a task in the event's runbook whose Action is Cutover.
- Go to Execute → Migration Operations → Migration Jobs.
- On the Migration Plans tab, select the plan row's Start icon. The Confirm Start Replication dialog opens.
- Select Start Replication.
- To start several plans at once, select their rows, then Move Management → Start Selected, and confirm with Start Selected.
- Follow progress on the Workloads tab, or select the plan's Name to see only its workloads.
Delete a plan and keep it for audit¶
- On the Migration Plans tab, select the plan row's Delete icon. The Confirm Migration Plan Deletion dialog opens.
- Confirm the deletion. The plan is deleted from Nutanix Move and kept in Clarity with the status DeletedOnMove.
- To see deleted plans again, select Show All Jobs.
